NORDIC BULK CARRIERS A/S (NBC)
Nordic Bulk Carriers is a dynamic dry bulk shipping company with a business approach as modern as its fleet. Its special expertise is ice class bulk carriers.
Nordic Bulk Carriers reached another milestone in 2010 when it became the first operator to use the Northern Sea Route. NBC shipped iron ore from northern Norway to China, across Russian sea, on a historic voyage that opened a new sea route for the future as well as new business opportunities for the entire shipping industry. The Northern Sea Route Project reflects Nordic Bulk Carriers’ position and strength as a world-leading operator of ice class bulk carriers.
Tasks attributed: Partner of WP 2 Marine Transportation and Tourism in the Arctic Domain. The work will mainly concentrate on the following issues in view of a shipping company:
a) Comments on the various research tasks in WP2 with the option for possible suggestions for modifications
b) Consultation during the execution of the research work in WP2 by a potential user
c) Evaluation of the research results considering environmental protection, navigation, infrastructure, safety and economy of Arctic Shipping in view of a Shipping Company
d) Cooperation with the WP2-Leader and Co-Leader in identifying governance related issues of Arctic Shipping to be used in WP5
Principal Investigator:
Christian Bonfils has a background in the Danish shipping industry . Since he started in 1999 he have been working for Tschudi & Eitzen (now U-Sea Bulk) and later Atlas Shipping. In 2006 he left Atlas to create his own company with a partner – Nordic Bulk Carriers (NBC). NBC is a dynamic dry bulk shipping company, their special expertise is ice classed bulk carriers. Christian Bonfils was one of the leading forces behind the first ever non Russian transit of the Northern Sea Route in 2010.
